Retail vs. Wholesale Beverage Buying

Retail and wholesale beverage buying differ mainly in the purchasing arrangement. Retail listings usually present consumer-facing packs and checkout details. Wholesale buying involves business-specific account requirements, selling units, and order terms that should be confirmed with the supplier.

Compare the process, not just the price

A wholesale catalog may quote cases rather than individual cans or retail packs. It may also require an account review, a minimum order, or a direct conversation about delivery and payment terms. None of those details should be inferred from a retail product page.

Keep your business information ready, including the receiving location, contact person, and the products or formats you are interested in.

Ask for a complete quote

  • Exact SKUs and case configurations.
  • Minimum quantities and any mixing rules.
  • Current availability.
  • Payment and delivery terms.
  • Required business or account documentation.

Use the supplier’s current requirements for your business and destination. A wholesale account is not, by itself, confirmation of every rule that may apply to stocking or selling a product.
