Citrus is a broad flavor family. Lemon, lime, orange, blood orange, and grapefruit give you several starting points, but the fruit name alone will not tell you how sweet, tart, or intense a particular beverage tastes.
Narrow the search in two steps
First choose the citrus direction that interests you. Then choose the drink style: a sparkling water-style beverage, lemonade, soda, tea blend, or mixer. Comparing two lemonades may be more useful than comparing every drink with a lemon on its packaging.
Read the maker’s tasting description and ingredient list separately. “Orange flavor” and “contains orange juice” are different statements. Likewise, a grapefruit name is not a reliable measure of bitterness or sugar content.
Keep a short flavor record
After trying a product, note the exact name and describe your own impression in plain words. “Bright citrus, less sweet than I expected” is more useful for reordering than “good.” Personal tasting notes should stay separate from facts copied from the label.
